History Justice C. Pfetzing moved to Havana, Illinois from
Hanover, Germany in 1857. He was a cabinetmaker and undertaker. He
had ten children, two of which, Oscar and
Henry Pfetzing, carried on
the funeral service. Oscar had two daughters. The eldest daughter,
Bula, married Grover Hurley and had two sons. These two sons,
Richard
and E. Jay Hurley purchased the funeral home in Havana. After
WWII, in 1946, they purchased another funeral home in Petersburg. Updates 8/21/2008 - Pre-Arrangement Information - We have updated our pre-arrangement information page to include the Illinois Funeral Director's Association's Pre-Planning Guide. This is a pdf. form that can be filled out on your computer and printed at your convenience. *Please note that this does not replace the important steps of speaking to your family and to your funeral director about your wishes, but it will give you a good guide to the information that you will need to provide to them. 6/10/2008 - We are currently offering pet loss products at our Havana location, and plan to add this to our other locations in the future. This selection includes pet urns and cremation jewelry, caskets, sympathy cards, picture frames and garden memorial stones. 7/30/2007 - We now have some photos of the interiors of some of our facilities. As time allows, I will be adding interior pictures of the remaining locations. I have also added a picture of the exterior of our Chandlerville location with the new porticoe on the East side of the building. Finally, I have updated our Memorials page with new options and an explanation of options. Contact Information |
